Instagram messages can be easily deleted if you wish to remove a sent message or an entire conversation. This guide will walk you through the process step by step.
How to Delete Instagram Messages
- Open the Instagram app on your phone.
- Tap on the messages icon at the top right of the screen to go to your inbox.
- To delete a specific message, open a conversation where the message is located.
- Find the message you want to delete.
- Tap and hold on the message.
- You will see two options: Delete and Unsend. Choose accordingly:
- Tap on Delete to remove the message from your inbox. Note that the other person will still see it.
- Tap on Unsend to delete the message from both sides, making it invisible to the other person.
- If you want to delete an entire conversation:
- Go back to your messages list.
- Swipe left on the conversation you want to delete.
- Tap the trash can icon and then confirm by selecting Permanently Delete.
- Keep in mind that deleted messages won’t appear in your conversation list anymore.
